Estate Planning
Estate planning involves planning not only for the distribution of a person’s estate after death but also planning for the management of assets and health care decision making during lifetime.
Starr Traiger has decades of experience planning estates
Whether a family’s circumstances calls for relatively standard estate plans or strategies to address more complex situations such as tax minimization, asset management and protection, probate avoidance and multi-jurisdiction issues, Starr Traiger has the expertise to meet its clients’ needs. We draft plans to address the unique goals of each family, balancing the needs of a blended family, preserving a treasured vacation home for the next generation, or dealing with the varying circumstances of each child.
After reviewing a client’s objectives and priorities and evaluating the efficacy of any existing documents, our attorneys will craft a comprehensive plan which will generally include:
wills
durable powers of attorney, and
health care proxies, living wills, and HIPAA compliant medical releases.
We may also prepare revocable living trusts for probate avoidance and tax planning as well as specialized trusts to manage bequests for family member with unique circumstances.
If needed, we will assist clients to implement the plan by re-titling assets, drafting deeds to retitle real estate and preparing beneficiary designations for retirement accounts and life insurance policies.
